The Future Is Mine is a career exploration club helping students in grades 9 through 12 gain a better understanding of careers they show interest in.
Students are responsible for completing projects throughout the year.  The INDIVIDUAL PROJECT is the first project of the school year.  Students are required to interview or job shadow someone in a career he or she is interested in.  The student will then write a paper about the experience and share this information with other students on INDIVIDUAL PROJECT SHARING DAY.  This year, this day will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in the library.
Another club requirement is the PEER TO PEER PROJECT.   In this project, students organized a career day at the high school that the entire student body participates in.  This project takes place in the high school gymnasium and students visit the career fair during their scheduled social studies classes.  This is an opportunity to learn about many careers in one day.
TFIM members also participate in the PEER TO YOUNGER PEER PROJECT.  Club members visit Rostraver Elementary School and teach the kindergartners social studies core concepts--the curriculum is provided by Junior Achievement--and we work in a partnership with them.
Finally, TFIM members have the opportunity to attend the TFIM conference for 2 days at the Pittsburgh Marriott.  This is a wonderful time to meet TFIM members from other high school and learn even more about various careers.
This is a good club for any student who needs career direction, and wants to socialize with students from other schools.
The club sponsor is  Ms. Amy Mendicino
